William McDONALD 1851-1925, b. Penicuik, Midlothian, Scotland son of John McDONALD 1830-1912 and Janet "Jessie" STEWART 1828-1912; married 1874 to Mary COX 1857-1941, b. Portland, Victoria, to Charles Yates COX 1834-1881 and Mary NOONAN 1836-1916.
William McDONALD arrived at Adelaide, South Australia as an infant member of his parents family on the ship "Caucasian" in 1852 and within a few months the family travelled by bullock dray and settled near the later township of Penola in south-east South Australia. By 1874 he was a blacksmith at Sandford on the Wannon, S-W Victoria where he married Mary COX.
William McDONALD died at Sandford in 1925 and his widow William McDONALD died at Casterton in 1941, and they were both buried in the Sandford Cemetery.
