Thomas CARMICHAEL c. 1831-1888, b. Roxburghshire, Scotland, son of Thomas CARMICHAEL & Euphemia RUTHERFORD arrived c.1852 in Victoria (Port Phillip) was married at "Maryvale" Station, near Harrow, S-W Victoria in 1856 to Margaret FLETCHER 1833-1906, b. Selkirkshire, Scotland, to James FLETCHER & Agnes GRIEVE. Margaret arrived with her family aboard the "Sir Charles Napier" at Geelong, Corio Bay, Victoria in 1855 and soon after settled in the Harrow area of S-W Victoria.

Thomas CARMICHAEL was first employed after arrival in Victoria on "Maryvale" Station, near Harrow, then about 1855 he was employed as the station overseer on Thomas BLAIR's "Clunie" station, Harrow, S-W Victoria from about 1855-1868, where a number of his children were born.

In October 1868 he purchased "Argyle" station, west of Casterton, where the family settled and more children were born making a total of 15.

Thomas CARMICHAEL died at his "Argyle" station in 1888 and was buried on the property in the "Argyle" station cemetery. His widow Margaret continued to live on the station where she died much later in 1906, and was also buried in the station cemetery.
