IMMIGRATION in 1849 : David HUTTON 1804-1854, b. Fife, Scotland to Robert HUTTON and Elizabeth YOUNG, m. 1828 Fife, Scotland to Janet HUTTON 1804-1887, b. Fife, Scotland to William HUTTON and Lillie BEVERIDGE had a family of 7 chidren in Fife, Scotland from 1826 to 1844. This HUTTON family sailed from Plymouth, England on the emigrant ship "Andromache" on 5th Sep 1849 and arrived at Geelong, Corio Bay, Colony of NSW (Victoria), Australia on 24th Dec 1849. The HUTTON family on board was recorded as David HUTTON (40y), Janet HUTTON (40y) and children :-- Lilias (20y), Elizabeth (18y), Robert (16y), William (12y), Janet (12y), David (8y) and James (5y).

The father David HUTTON died, aged 50y, at Geelong in 1854 and his widow Janet HUTTON died, aged 83y, at Geelong in 1887. Both are buried in the Geelong Eastern Cemetery.

Two of their sons, Robert Lowe HUTTON (1834-1903) and William HUTTON (1837-1916) selected land in Bruk Bruk Parish, Carapook in the 1860s, formerly a part of Edward HENTY's "Muntham" Station, and farmed there for a number of years.


Robert Lowe HUTTON 1834-1903, b. Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland son of David HUTTON and Janet HUTTON was married in 1856 at ..".., Victoria to Mary Cockburn PORTEUS 1835-1905, b. Midlothian, Scotland to James PORTEUS and Jean "Jane" HUTCHESON. Robert HUTTON was a selector with 378 acres of land in Bruk Bruk Parish (Muntham) in 1865 and was still farming this land in 1877. By 1887 Robert and Mary HUTTON were living and Geelong before moving to Moonee Ponds (Melbourne) where Robert died in 1902 and Mary died in 1905. They has no children and are buried in the Melbourne General Cemetery.


William HUTTON 1837-1916, b. Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland son of David HUTTON and Janet HUTTON was married in 1871 at Bruk Bruk (Muntham), Victoria to Mary Anna HARRY c.1848-1924, b. Cornwall, England to Richard HARRY and Mary JELBART.

William & Mary Anne HUTTON had a farm known as "Spring Hill" Farm in the parish of Bruk Bruk, Carapook and it appears that this is where most of their children were born between 1872 and 1888 William appears to have selected 198 acres of land in Bruk Bruk Parish in 1868.

William HUTTON, farmer of Bruk Bruk Parish (Muntham), Victoria lost considerable farming assets in the Carapook fire of 1900.

William HUTTON disposed of his Bruk Bruk farm after 1901 and he died at Geelong, Victoria in 1916 and his widow Mary Anne HUTTON died at Geelong, Victoria in 1924, both are buried in the Geelong Eastern Cemetery.
