Donald ROSS 1822-1913, was b. 1822, Creich parish, Sutherlandshire, Scotland, son of George ROSS and Janet "Jessie" SUTHERLAND. Donald ROSS (aged 34y / 36y) arrived at Portland Bay, S-W Victoria in December 1856 on the emigrant ship "Severn" from England.

Margaret CAMPBELL 1834-1914, was b. 1834, Lothbeg parish, Suttherlandshire, Scotland, daughter of Alexander CAMPBELL and Ann POLSON. She arrived with the family on the "Athletae" at Portland, S-W Victoria in Februray 1855. Immigration records show the CAMPBELL family on the "Athletae" as Alexander CAMPBELL (50y) & Janet (Ann?) (50y) and their children Andrew (23y), Christina (21y), Margaret (19y), George (17y) and Helen (15y).

Donald ROSS and Margaret CAMPBELL were married in 1857, at Portland, S-W Victoria and had a family of 8 children born from 1858 to 1875 in Portland, Sandford & Casterton, S-W Victoria.

The family had moved from Portland to Sandford on the Wannon by 1860 and had settled at nearby Casterton on the Glenelg by 1865 where they remained until Donald died there in 1913 and Margaret in 1914. They were both buried in the Casterton new cemetery.
