John McDONALD b. 1804 Isle of Skye, Sct son of Hector McDONALD and Catherine NICHOLSON was married in 1838 at Snizort, Isle of Skye, Sct to Flora LAMONT b. 1818 Kilmartin, Sct, dau of John & Margaret LAMONT. John, Flora & family arrived at Portland, Victoria on the "New Zealander" in 1853.
They settled at Hotspur where John's brother Hector McDONALD (of the "Crawford Inn", Hotspur and "Mac's Hotel" in Portland) had been residing for a number of years.
